Lama tak muncul di belantika, Death Cab for Cutie akhirnya kembali mengumumkan album terbaru mereka. Kendati masih merahasiakan detail serta judul album, grup indie rock asal Washington, AS itu membocorkan informasi penting bahwa album mereka akan resmi dirilis pada Agustus mendatang.

Hal ini dikonfirmasi langsung oleh Ben Gibbard dkk. Melalui unggahan video, Death Cab for Cutie melayangkan sebuah teaser di jagat maya. Klip berdurasi 40 detik ini sudah dapat disaksikan di kanal YouTube resmi mereka. Selain melepas album anyar, Death Cab for Cutie juga mengumumkan akan menggelar rangkaian tur musim panas di sepanjang kota di Amerika Utara.

Death Cab for Cutie terakhir kali menetaskan album penuh bertajuk Kintsugi pada 2015 lalu. Sejauh ini, band yang namanya meroket lewat single “I Will Follow You into the Dark” itu telah melepas delapan album studio.

Dikomandoi oleh Ben Gibbard, Death Cab for Cutie telah terbentuk sejak 1997. Sang eks gitaris Chris Walla, memutuskan keluar dari band pada tahun 2014. Album baru yang akan rilis pada Agustus mendatang akan jadi album perdana Death Cab for Cutie tanpa campur tangan Chris Walla. Pada Juli 2017 lalu, Ben Gibbard merilis album solo tribute album Bandwagonesque milik veteran alternative rock, Teenage Fanclub.
