Unit garage/post-punk Death Valley Girls baru saja merilis video klip “Disaster (Is What We’re After)”. Kerennya, video klip tersebut dibintangi oleh vokalis rock veteran, Iggy Pop.

Video klip yang dibesut oleh Kansas Bowling ini merupakan tribute akan salah satu adegan di film 66 Scenes of America (1982) yang disutradarai Jørgen Leth. Pada adegan tersebut, seniman legendaris Andy Warhol tengah melahap hamburger.

Perbedaan antara Iggy dan Warhol adalah vokalis veteran ini kerap mengangguk mengikuti dentum “Disaster (Is What We’re After)” sembari membuang salah satu roti pengapit hamburger.

“Kami percaya akan mistisisme optik dan kekuatan rock n’ roll untuk saling menghubungkan banyak orang. Rasanya sangat luar biasa ketika Iggy menyukai musik kami. Saat Kansas mengatakan ia bermimpi untuk merekam ulang adegan film pendek ‘Andy Warhol Memakan Hamburger’ tapi melakukannya bersama Iggy untuk video klip ini, kami harap-harap cemas atas sekian kemungkinan yang bisa terjadi. Tiba-tiba kami sudah berada di Miami bersama Iggy. Ini adalah mimpi rock n’ roll yang jadi kenyataan!” ujar Death Valley Girls.

Album terbaru Death Valley Girls, Darkness Rains akan dirilis pada 5 Oktober mendatang melalui Suicide Squeeze Records. Album terakhir Death Valley Girls, Glow In The Dark dilepas di tahun 2016.
